Don’t wait until the new year to make big plans for 2018. Every year millions of us form New Years Resolutions that few people ever achieve. If you want to be different from the crowd, get thinking now about what you want to achieve and make a plan with the top tips:
Set 2 or 3 big goals for 2018
Rather than making lots of smaller goals, think big - but don’t overwhelm yourself. Pick 2 or 3 goals from different life contexts to balance out life. For example, (add a comma after example) rather than having 3 work goals, have a work one, a health one and maybe a relationship one. This gives you balance and will help prevent burn out.
Make sure they are all aligned
Check that achieving one won’t negatively affect the other. Example if you want to start a new business and have more family time, this may be unrealistic and cause you constant conflict. You could plan to focus on work for the first 6 months, then make family time a priority. The goals then become aligned.
Decide who’s involved
Your relationships are the single most important factor in happiness and success, so choose carefully who will be involved in your goals. Choosing the right people will make the year fulfilling, enjoyable and inspirational.
Plan in breaks
It’s important to have downtime, even from your goals. Decide when you’d like to take a break from working on it and give your mind and body a rest. It’s key to maintaining momentum throughout the year.
Have a visual reminder of your Goals
Do a picture collage or even just print them off and stick them on the wall. Having a visual reminder will help your mind stay on track because they will be reminding it to stay on track. The more powerful the visual, the more effective this is.
The key to having success in 2018 is to decide on things you really want to achieve and set out, not in a blaze of New Year Glory but carefully, mindfully and step by step towards it.
